D1563/ N1878 haul an empty bauxite train towards Jarrahdale, seen just outside Mundijong. I chased the train up to Jarrahdale as I was curious to see if N1878 made it this time as the previous day it had failed on the branch. For those around in the late 1970's, early 1980's it was not uncommon to see the newly introduced N class diesels either being hauled dead or being trialled yet again. On 22 April 1981 we see 1871 with N1881 with fitters in attendance trying to rectify another fault. The locos the N class were supposed to replace ended up in many cases outliving their replacements.

At Easter in 1981 W945 hauled a Vintage Train from Donnybook to Noggerup (on the line to Boyup Brook). W945 is seen on the return journey on 19 April 1981.

Y1118 is seen shunting Midland Yard on 14 February 1981. All the cars were workers cars for people employed at Midland Workshops.

X1021 runs round its train after shunting the Swan Brewery at Canning Vale on 9 February 1981.
