Hotham Valley Railway at Pinjarra, locos present include the Z, S549, W903 & C1701. S549 was a visitor & is normally at Bassendean.Photo taken on 3 January 1998.

Almost brand new Q315 at Forrestfield on 29 December 1997. Q315 is now Q4015 and is the last of the Q's to still carry Westrail branding.

P2008 freshly overhauled in the new Westrail yellow colour scheme, the first of the existing locos to be repainted. It is seen at RGC (now Iluka) open day at Narngulu on 21 September 1997. P2008 is now P2508 & currently being rebuilt.

P2003 hauls a grain train to Geraldton through Greenough on 8 November 1997. P2003 is now P2503 is still at Narngulu but carries the Genessee & Wyoming ARG livery.

A new NR52 at Kewdale on 29 December 1997, NR52 has recently been repainted into standard Pacific National colours.

It is hard to believe that with the introduction of the Q class that Westrail was only going to retain about 8 L class and all of the earlier H, K, & poor condition L class were stored here we see L274, K201,L271,L265& K206 (the line goes on) at Forresfield on 29 December 1997.

The Loongana Lime train today still has interesting locos hauling it, back in 1998 the former AN EL class were the power, here we see EL63/EL52 at Parkeston on 21 April 1998. Today the EL class are owned by Chicago Freightcar (CFCL) and never venture to the West.

DL50 stands on one track whilst NR56/NR99 shunt a freight at Parkeston on 21 April 1998. The nearly new NR's show their colours well.

CLP11 stands at Forrestfield on 29 December 1997. In 1997 it was still possible to sign an indeminity form & then go & take photos. Sunday, was also a very quiet day with very few loco movements.

AA1517/P2008 haul an empty grain train along Chapman Road, Geraldton on 14 February 1998. This line has been closed & lifted.

AA1517/P2004 haul an empty grain train through Bringo heading towards Mullewa on 27 July 1997. Today you would be standing in thick wattle scrub to get this photo.

Further A class etc. then stored at Forrestfield A1505,A1506,D1564,AB1533 & A1510 on 29 December 1997.

What a line up, the A class were then mainly out of service at Forrestfield, here we see A1504,A1502,A1501,A1503,A1509 & A1507 on 29 December 1997.

852 was the then Parkeston shunter, it later came back to W.A. after a stint in S.A. Today its in New South Wales. Photo taken on 22 April 1998.
